GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM
Oct 4, 2020

The first Sunday in October is the Global Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. It began in 2002 and has quickly become the largest Israel-focused prayer event in the world with hundreds of millions joining in. It aims to raise global awareness and intercession for God's purposes in Israel, and to unite believers around the world in raising a cry to Heaven on behalf of this strategic land and its people. Here are some testimonies from around the
World.
Japan. Hallelujah! Many, many churches and Christian organisations prayed. We cried, travailed and fervently prayed for the peace of Jerusalem and its people. Not only Japanese churches but also churches from different nations based in Japan. The churches that I contacted preached about Israel and prayed for the peace of Jerusalem I n their Sunday services. Some churches had committed to preach/teach about Israel and pray every first Sunday of the month. Those churches/organisations who have been praying for Israel are being blessed abundantly and the LORD is transforming their lives. Many people are encouraged to visit Israel to know more about the Holy Land and the situation of the Jewish community. More and more Japanese are becoming aware. The LORD is opening their eyes and giving them understanding how important it is to pray for Israel and its people and love them.
Pakistan. We had a wonderful event for The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. Three hundred believers gathered to pray and to fellowship together afterwards – in a Muslim country where it is a very tough time for churches.
Namibia. Approximately 30 churches from all over Namibia agreed to pray - we have about 40 towns in Namibia. We know that there were many that prayed. We believe there could have been 10,000 believers praying in our country. Our population is approximately 2.2 million.
Papua New Guinea. Reports are overwhelming...People are starting to see the importance of standing with the nation of Israel. Our gathering had a very good turnout and was very colourful with the national Israeli flag and the Lion of Judah. A pastor who has been going to Israel since 1998 shared the Word of God and blew the shofar before the time of prayer. The emphasis was very much for the peace of Jerusalem.
Key Scriptures for praying for Israel: Ps 122:6, Gen 12:3, Zech 14, Micah 4:1-2, Joel 3:1-2, Is 42:6-7, Ezek 36:26-27, Matt 23:37-39, Romans 11. Take this opportunity to organise a special service, prayer meeting or display to raise awareness of God’s purposes for Israel. Join millions from around the world who will be praying on this day.
